I was fishing Pompton lake one day a few years back. The stocking truck was there putting Northern Pike in that day and they released a Blue Northern about 10 inches long. They hatchery guy said that it most likely be eating by another northern quickly. Because of it's color. Would be cool if the little guy survived to be a monster.

Meh, -it different looking but other than that, it's a useless color mutation.

I'm all for anything that will increase the growth rate and size of a gamefish, whether it's transgenics, polyploidy, cross-breeding, or just intensive selective breeding.

A novel color doesn't strike me as being valuable for a gamefish.
