Brookie before Closing!
 

Had a bunch of stuff going on this weekend..finally got a break around 3 and decided hit the Raritan River in a few spots before the "close". Bounced around trying small jigs, spinners, and had a 6 inch black/silver jerkbait tied on for fun. Well I move to a "well known good spot" around 5 o'clock and first cast with the jerk bait and I'm hooked up. Turns out to be my first Brook Trout ever...nice fatty about 13 - 15 inches or so I'd guess. Quick (crappy) pic and let her go. Great way to start the year and last minute finish just before the close of business!

Thanks jigman for sending me that text because I was trying to decide do I go there or go home...When you said that spot is good in high water it made my decision. Another great example of NJF'ers helpin each other out.

Will post a pic to prove it as soon as I can get it off of my antique flip phone...I'm old and hate technology.

Now...can we please get some damn warm weather!

so that's what they look like :eek:. Been so long since I've fished for them, I almost forgot!!
Come on opening day! All those fish in Raritan, we should be able to pull a couple out (as compared to the previous 2 years!)
Can't wait to get up to NJ and fish with the opening day crew again!
