Ultra minnow question

Has anybody attached stinger hooks to the ultra minnows that you mold?
I missed alot of fish last year & I am told I need a stinger hook.
Any info regarding : SIZE OF HOOK
HOW TO ATTACH
WHAT TO USE TO ATTACH.... ETC
Any Info Would Be Greatly Appreciated.

THANKS, Tom

The bigger the jig the more you need one. Rarely do you see a fluke with a 6 oz jig in his mouth. I use 80lb leader and just tie it to the hook with a uni type knot and to the jig hook the same way.

I usually use a swash hook then close the eye with pliers with a little piece of shrink wrap tube on the eye then attach it to the ultra minnow hook

Shrink wrapping the eye of a stinger hook works well as does this stuff http://www.plastidip.com/home_solutions/Plasti_Dip. Learned this tip from our own River Rat.

What each does is help keep the stinger from twisting around too much on the bucktail hook and fouling longer baits.

With the plasti dip you dip the eye once, let it dry and then once more and thread them on to the bucktail hook as needed.

With the shrink wrap you need to be sure and heat the shrink wrap up with the lighter to make it tight on the stinger hook eye.

I use a swash 5/0 for the 6 and 8 oz. The plastic dip and heat shrinks are good ideas, gonna have to try them cause it seemed like I was fouling and twisting too much.

Just started making these myself but have also used a leader material that a very good fisherman(Sam) on the OE showed how to tie that keeps the leader short and pretty straight. I like these as it gives you the added length when using a longer grub/bait when the fish give you that short bite. Better chance of hooking up. These are very easy to make....

Stinger hook can be easily attached to the jig and removed when needed.

Xperks22- Sent you a PM

Richie, this is a Kevlar line in 200# test line, I also have some 300# test I'm using as well.

Tom Ciuba, you could also use surgical tubing to attach a stinger hook by slipping over the eye of hook and attaching with the jig hook through the tubing. Have had some good success with that set up also.....
