Pequest Trout/ Budd Lake Ice Report 12/28
 

Fished the Pequest from 9-1 this morning. Started off slow but managed to get 6 Rainbows by the end of the trip. All fish caught on Rapalas and all fish were released. Nothing big, 14-16 inchers. Nobody on the river where I was or anywhere I checked. Fly stretch was packed. Nice morning on the river.

Drove the long way home to check on Budd Lake. Theres some areas that are still 6 inches thick with ice. I watched the fellas for 10 minutes and saw there was a good jig bite happening. So i grabbed my jigging rod and got in on the action. Jigged from 130-245, managed to pull up about 30 fish in that time frame. Crappies, Perch and Golden Shiners had the feed bags on today. Gave all the Goldens to Craig to hold for safe keeping. Average Crappie was 7-11 inches, Perch were all very small, Golden Shiners went anywhere from 4-8 inches. Good time out and about today. YEA BUDDY!!!

Sounds like a good day, wow ice on Budd Lake too. Looks like another cold snap comin' :)
