Blackfishing on the Monger 11/21
 

Had the opportunity for my second ever voyage on the Fish Monger. Went out originally in 2011 and found the boat in the same condition as I left it. Also found the captain and crew just how I remembered them- top notch. New mate Danny was outstanding especially for a novice black fisherman- showed me the ropes and replaced my lead when I donated it to the bottom on occasion. I know I don't need to tell anyone on this board but Jerry clearly knows how to put you on the fish. The bite started out red hot- so much so that I was able to catch a few of these finicky fish- but with the tide change things slowed down. Jerry moved us a few times and it was a constant pick for the rest of the day but we came pretty close to a boat limit of keepers plus a bunch of shorts. Only complaint goes to the weather report which was a little sportier than advertised but still much better than the previous 2 days I was told. Again, great captain, mate and fisherman to share a day on the water with.

Captain Jerry does not run that boat anymore.....the new Captain's name is Hank
