Merrill Creek Res. 10/6/13:

Headed up with Wilson in the pea soup fog. Thought with the heavy overcast and fog we would do really well. Water was very clear and we had some great looking herring.
First stop double anchored in close to try to beat the strong East wind, around 32 FOW. I think Wilson got a runt smallmouth there. We tried a little deeper in 42 FOW and I had a couple run offs and didn't connect. Last spot in 70 FOW over by the main dam, we stunk it up over there.
Place is LOADED with cormorants !!!
Counted 14 trailers in the lot when we left at 1pm. There was a very tiny bass tournament going on, maybe 6 boats.

It was seriously foggy and misty at times in West Jersey today.

I don't know why there are so many damn cormorants at Merrill Creek. Maybe it has to do with all the dead trees. It gives them a place to roost. I almost got shit on last time I kayaked there.

The birds are certainly not there because there are so many fish to eat. I constantly get skunked at that place. I find it a really tough place to fish.
