Beat me to it!!!

Here's the text, and I gotta say Andy pm'ed me and said he thought this would happen...RIGHT:p

The NJDEP's Division of Fish and Wildlife has moved up its Fall Trout Stocking Program by one week. The fall stocking will now begin Tuesday, Oct. 1 and conclude on Wednesday, Oct. 9. The stocking schedule has been revised to help staff take steps to address a disease that has affected a small portion of fish at the Pequest Trout Hatchery in Warren County.

With cooler temperatures providing optimal conditions for trout fishing, the Division is looking forward to another excellent fall season. Nearly 20,000 two-year old brook and rainbow trout averaging 14 to 16 inches and weighing 1˝ to 2 pounds will be distributed in 17 streams and 15 lakes and ponds statewide.

The fish being released have been tested and found free of the disease, furunculosis, which impacted the lower raceway portion of the Pequest Hatchery. The earlier stocking will enable staff to begin precautionary full scale antibiotic treatments of the entire fish stock at the hatchery.

Other steps being taken to safeguard the hatchery include enhanced deterrents to prevent birds which prey on the fish, particularly osprey and great blue herons, which are believed to have introduced the bacterium into the hatchery raceways. For details, visit: www.state.nj.us/dep/newsrel/2013/13_0092.htm .

Many anglers continue to enjoy the tradition of an excellent trout dinner as these large fish quickly fill an angler's creel. This fall is no exception as cooler night and daytime temperatures will provide more than optimum stream conditions for great fall trout fishing.

The full revised stocking schedule is available at: www.njfishandwildlife.com/flstk13.htm or by calling the Trout Stocking Hotline at 609-633-6765.

Drags won't be screamin' till November. Between all the leaves in the water and these big fat fish not needing to eat for at least 3 weeks, TRUST ME, you may get a few pissed off at your spinner, but the majority of these fish will be caught in NOVEMBER !!!

I agree with Andy. Let em' chill! I tried a few times last season in October only to be frustrated with leaves. Once November rolled around, my friends and I produced 3 fish in the 1st 3 wknds of November weighing 8.3 lbs, 7.2, and 6.0 lbs.

We titled it "The November to Remember"! I cant wait!

Bummer...

“We have thoroughly tested other fish in the facility and have ample supplies of two-year-old trout to distribute for the fall trout stocking season. Unfortunately, however, we will not be able to stock any of the super-sized three-year-old trout, and no brown trout will be distributed,” Chanda said.

...

However, larger three-year-old trout resided in the impacted section of the hatchery and must be euthanized. They will not be available for stocking.
