Sunday Swartswood

Hey All,

Me and my buddy are heading up to Swartswood this Sunday with our little Jon Boat.

I was wondering if anyone else was headed up that way. We are basically still learning the art and would love to meet some of you folks that have been doing this for years and learn from your experiences !!

Thanks,

swartswood can be a tough nut to crack.....my advice is to stop at YOJ and get herring and fish em deep, best way for smallies and eyeballs. get out there early if possible, sun rises at 615 and the early bird gets the worm

You may want to give little swarts a shot. It has alot to offer and it is much more manageable. Plus you will probably be the only boat on the water. Tons of weeds for LM....use topwater, spinnerbaits, senkos on th eoutside edge if the weeds. Plus they got big toothies in there too.

Good luck whatever you decide....and let us know how it goes.

Last time we hit big Swarts we had bass hitting our weed less frogs for 2 straight hours in the lillies. Of course being new to it, we couldn't set the hooks !!!

We tried little Swarts a few weeks ago and got the skunk, so we are itching to try big again lol. We will definitely try live bait deep and I think we will hit the same spot where the bass were hitting with some Texas Rigged Senkos, I heard they are easier to hook up.

Thanks guys !!

Fish MONSTER LEDGE, both points, with the herring or you can try finessing them out on various jigs. Look for the rock piles and fish around them. High sun means the walleye could be deeper than normal. It's not abnormal for a Swartswood Eye to be in 40 feet of water this time of year. I haven't fished for Eyes there in 2 years but can show you stacks of pics of Walleye from 3-10 years ago. Fishing now through December can be quite epic. Many, many limits pulled out of there by yours truly. All fish caught off land to boot, jigging.

GOOD LUCK!!!!!!

Is that a drop off in Swartswood? If so I don't know where it is and do not have a depth finder.

Plus we aren't really targeting walleye, we're more in the market for bass, pickerel, perch. I don't want even to get into muskie yet because I hear it takes lots of dedication and know-how to hook up to one of those bad boys.

Rt 206 north! Great place, don't drive too fast or else you'll miss it. If you pass the Shell station/ Dunkin Donuts, you've gone too far.

YOJ is right before the exxon/dunkindonuts at limecrest road and rt206 north.

eddie dont tell em about monsters ledge! haha

if your bass fishing u rly dont need herring, artificials like normal bass stuff work there esp in the lillies and around the island. theres no musky in the big lake just the little lake. best thing u can do is invest in a portable depth finder at the very least if your gonna fish alot
