To do or not to do?
This Saturday I was thinking of doing a trip w/ my cousin to fish spruce run reservoir for the first time. They are showing 30% chance of thunderstorm. I live about an hour away. Should I head there or do you guys recommend on going somewhere closer like passaic river and wait for a better day?

Re: To do or not to do?
I saw chance of Tstorms later in the day like afternoon. Get there at sunrise and u wont be too pissed if u gotta head off in the afternoon. Little rain isnt bad but if it pours Id like more than electric/9.9 to get back to my truck LOL

Re: To do or not to do?
If I were you I would wait til tomorrow night to check the weather. That said I should be there
Saturday. I'll personally go at 30% all the time....especially because my fishing is limited to weekends. I just check the radar every once in awhile on my phone. |
Re: To do or not to do?
Thanks guys and jimmythegreek if it pours that's when my 9.9 better do some damage coming in lol

.
Go ahead and chance it. If you don't do anything - then nothing will happen. If you go, you might get rained on , or you might have a great day fishing. . |
Re: To do or not to do?
chance of thunderstorms = unstable barometer = good fishing weather
i would go don't be reckless though, if you start hearing thunder, get off the water |
Re: To do or not to do?
don't you know by now the weathermen are ALWAYS wrong......today was supposed to be 77 and partly cloudy when I left at 4:00 am.....by the time I was fishing it was misting almost all morning and more like 65....and I checked that specific area we were fishing.....GO FOR IT!!!

Re: To do or not to do?
Wait for Friday's forecast, and as long as there's no major thunderstorms, you're ok. I would go and hope for overcast weather (fully-clouded sky). Like acabtp said, an unstable barometer is great for fishing. But, head in if you hear thunder. I've been caught out in bad thunderstorms hiding under a bridge, it's no fun, nor safe-feeling.

Re: To do or not to do?
Thunderstorms usually last 10 or 15 minutes. Bring your rain gear and fish on. Fishing in crappy weather has lots of advantages. It often times has the fish moving and a lot of fair-weather fishermen stay off the water. I'm going fishing on Monday when there's practically 100% chance of thunderstorms. I'll betcha we'll be the only ones out there and I betcha we catch a musky.;)
