Staten Island Ferry - New Reef - Please Help

As we were on the beach yesterday, I watched the SI ferry get towed by a tug passed the Manasquan inlet. There was plenty of speculation on what they were doing with it but no definitive answers.

Does anyone know what they are doing with it or where it was going?

Maybe going to Yanks for maintenance or bottom inspection?

One of the news outlets reported it was being towed to Virginia for maintenance.
