Pompton Lake

Went out later this evening around 7:45 to Pompton Lake because I was bored. Just hit the small connect between the lake and the river and caught 9 crappie and 1 decent sized rock bass. All on a trout magnet after no takers on a senko. Talked to a guy that got 3 cats.

Not a bad night for me, especially considering the 2 min travel time! :)

Nice! I was there from 7am-11am Sunday morning. Was VERY slow, 3 of us in the boat and only 1 17" LMB landed by me. No topwater bite, only fish hit a 5" Senko. The weeds really blew up in that place.

Nice night DB. Ya can't beat having a place real close to just get out there for a fix.

At least that was a nice sized LM there Skunk. I have noticed the weeds are having a great year all around....I think they loved that heat wave.

White Trailblazer? Yeah, and I didn't launch. I went to single spot and had some decent luck.

@Skunk - There was an INSANE amount of top water action. I think they were either crappie (because that's what I was catching) or dare I say it... TROUT. I'm very tempted to bring the fly rod tonight/tomorrow to test out my theory, but it was eerily reminiscent of a month after spring stocking.

Were they hitting anything? We tossed jitterbugs, jointed rapalas, and spooks for a bit with not one blowup.

Didn't even try.. it was really dark and I didn't have a headlamp, just my phone LED (which is really bright. holy smokes.)

Anyway, I wasn't about to bust out the trebles in the dark and I wasn't able to get to that spot b/c that dude was near the larger blowups. I'll be back there unless you hooligans try to spot burn me tonight or tomorrow. ;)

This might change your mind. Went back for round two tonight. There for about 45 min and landed 12+ crappie (stopped counting), 3 sunfish, and 1 small LMB.

A small-large-mouth-bass. ha

A crappie on the small size. Most were larger than this, about the size of the bass, obv dif shape. :)

All on a meal worm color trout magnet jig...
