Re: Passaic River driving me nuts
Passaicriverbasin.com gives you many access points along the river, parks and bridges. The F&G site also shows the stocking map and distribution for Pike. Find a bridge, take a walk, catch a PIKE!!!:D

To be honest, if you're catching sunnies and rock bass you may not be using the right lures. I've had the most success on big chart/white spinner baits. Gold and silver blades seem to work equally as good. Big stick baits work and large spooks and buzz baits have produced some epic strikes. |
Re: Passaic River driving me nuts
Keep throwing those spinner baits !!! My last two trips I had about 15 nice pike.........tonight I fished with my kayak and made about 500 casts in a few "can't miss spots" (about 3 miles away from the last 2 trips) I didn't even get a follow or a hit in 2 hours.
I have been away for a few days, and the river is down about 3 feet from last week, but the water is as muddy as can be. Don't give up....it can all change in a few casts !! Danny V |
Re: Passaic River driving me nuts
They are working on the Bloomfield Ave bridge(both the supports and overpass) in Fairfield so anything downstream of there is going to be muddy despite the river dropping. Water may also turn white from the concrete dust. Upstream of there is fairly clear by PR standards.
Work won't be done until February 2014: http://www.state.nj.us/transportatio...3/041613b.shtm Scary to think that bridge is 74 years old and been though hell with all the flooding. I've been underneath there and it makes u think twice about driving over it. |
Re: Passaic River driving me nuts
Go big or go home! We've been getting them on some pretty big stuff lately, even the smaller ones will hit it. If you are trying specifically for Smallies, go with a 4" Senko.
