Raritan River Channel Cats

2 Attachment(s)
Went out to the mighty raritan tonight around 9 with some friends and got a big channel cat right off the start. We fished with 4-6 inch hunks of cut bait of fish we caught early. After the one fish we only had small ones grabbing the bait that couldn't even fit it in their mouth. But keeping the small ones away can pay off. The raritan has some mosters hiding in it if you can find them. Here is are two biggest from the last two trips.

Re: Raritan River Channel Cats

i grew up fishing the raritan river almost nightly for cats, small stripers n' white perch...we used to catch some real nice ones...best one caught between my brother, buddy n' I was 33 inches n' fat as a cow...pulled it in when the river was running muddy n' high...we used to catch some real big time eels out of there as well...I love living in north jersey now fishing a lot of beautiful lakes, but I definitely miss the raritan n' the canal more n' more...i think a trip is in order for me down that way real soon
