Saturday Report
Weather - Overcast/Some Sun Later in Day/slight wind (south)
Water Temp - 68-73 Depth: 19-50 feet Time: Last of outgoing/ebb/incoming Beer: Miller Lite Bait: Spearing Squid Killies Started out in the back just east of the triangle area. Dirty water and no bites. Took a ride to the reach area around staten island and found cleaner water and warmer temps. The south wind really hurt us. We tried everything. The outgoing tide we had a few hits - then the wind died along with the drift...but that's when it happened! We starting picking up some fish just outside the channel in about 21 feet of water. and as soon as the tide turned and wind came back - they got lockjaw again! We stayed out for another 2 or three hours without a touch! I couldn't figure it out... The only thing I can say is south wind just turned them off. The fish are there but just would not cooperate. Finished the day with 5 shorts and a dogfish No Blues in the area but loads of bunker everywhere We fished from triangle to Seguine Point Bend area and fished 20 to 50 ft. NOTHING. Things will change this week hopefully. Tight Lines |
