I catch them in the Delaware river. They eat everything in sight. Not sure where this lake is but I know Flatheads are doing well on the Big D!!!

Re: Kirkwood Lake Flatheads???
NJDF&W hasn’t gotten any catch reports from lakes.
Recent reports from Lambertville are channel cats (5 lber’s are common) on every cast. Flatheads are few & far between. Last year, Riegelsville was the hot spot for flatheads. This year, in May, we electrofished 18” & 20” flatheads @ the bridge abutments, there. Missed a bigger one. |
Re: Kirkwood Lake Flatheads???
Not many people here from south jersey, you and I are in the minority....
I haven't really fished Kirkwood in a while, but that place is kind of a dump. At one point is was extremely polluted. There was a sherwan williams nearby that got shut down and they contaminated it pretty bad (lead and arsenic if I recall correctly). I believe there was an effort to clean it up, but I still don't think its all that great for fishing. If you're close by I guess its worth a shot, but I probably wouldn't waste a whole day there or anything. Just found this from Sept of 2012 http://sj.sunne.ws/2012/09/05/kirkwo...contamination/ |

Re: Kirkwood Lake Flatheads???
kirkwood lake is now very clean and the fish especially bass are thriving very well. I have caught plenty of bass over 4 lbs. The carp fishing is also excellent.
Don't be afraid to go there you wont be disappointed. |
