Got up early and hit the AT&T stretch of the North Branch in search of crayfish for Sundays float trip on the Raritan. Bronzeback said if you want big smallmouth you have to use crayfish. It was slim pickins in that area, too much fast water, I did manage 1 crayfish. I was getting a little upset and tried one other spot where I missed a lobster. Down on my luck I figured I would go to the small stream by my house where I remember there being some crayfish in there. Started off strong. Then it got to the point where it wasn't if, but how many, crayfish were under each rock, I found my groove and quickly filled my bait container with crayfish. I have it soaking now, hope the crayfish will hold over night, I think they should. I hit a local tackle store this morning and got some leeches, I have to call back later to see if he is getting more hellgrammites in.

I got 4 tackle boxes full of bait and they are all plastic and nearly all catch fish. No looking under rocks or wading in the stream...found em all in a single isle at the store. Some caught my eye while most caught fist over and over again.

Fish don't grow big eating plastic and metal. Thanx for the heads up, I'm a die hard live bait guy.

LOL....True!!
