Weighing fish

I bought a digital scale because I want to start weighing the bigger fish I catch. Just wanted to get a general consensus on what the best/safest way to weigh a fish is. Thanks

Re: Weighing fish

Put the fish in a good catch and release landing net, weigh the net and the fish, subtract the weight of the net.

The only issue with doing that way is that I do a lot of fishing from shore and don't want to have to lug a net around with me.

Check out these weigh slings and sacks. Fish care is very important to most carp fisherman and fishing for carp is a 10 billion dollar industry in Europe so they come up with some great gear. He are a few links to sites in the US. They also have great hooks, rod holders, alarms, chairs...you name it.

Re: Weighing fish

Just make sure you wet them down so the fish don't lose their slime coat. The mesh ones that zip up are great for keeping a monster fish for a bit while you wait for a buddy to show up and take pics ;)
