Best Jumbo Scup Rig

I'm headed up to Hyannis MA for the first time next week for 2 days of jumbo porgy and sea bass. What's everyone's favorite rig including dropper spacing & length & hook selection for these beasts. I'm used to the market size fish we usually get down here. Just bigger 2/0 or 3/0 hooks or any other differences?

See below, this is just what you need. Nothing fancy. I would go with the 3/0-5/0. Good luck, I hear their some big pork chops out there.

The rig that Jay posted is a very good one. Another style is to have the hooks few inches above the sinker and off the leader, to lay on the rocks, opposed to the Hi-Low Rig Jay is showing.

We sell a Deep Water Ling Rig, that can be used up there, for the larger fish. In fact, Tropics from the site here is the one who came up with the idea.

Im heading up to fish for giants with Dave - Tuna.com 2mrw. Cant wait to get fishing up there!!!

Yea - that looks like a tog rig. Interesting idea, I never though to use that set-up for porgy and sea bass, I'll have to tie up a few and try it unless the bottom is too "snaggy". While we're at it, your pic reminded me - what is everyone's preference, bead, no bead and chartreuse vs. orange?

A member here ties them up for us. I have sold some up north and they have all re-ordered in bulk a week or two later. I hd 2 guys tell me they want them for their charter, if they cant figure out how to tie them themselves, ( which Im sure they can).

It works for ling, cod up in MAss. Something different from the usual Hi-Low Rig :)

Slayed the Scub and Sea Bass up in New Bedford MA last week with your basic store bought Porgy rigs. Used strips of squid and plain 2inch glow gulp. The Squid got the numbers but the gulp produced the Jumbos.. Sea Bass up to 5lbs and Porgy up to 3lbs.. nice slabs. Good luck

3 2/0 snelled octapus hooks on 30lb stiff leader, placed 6", 18" and 30" above the sinker. At least a 10 foot mono top shot if not straight mono as stretch is your friend with frantic porkchops.

Just talked to a friend who just came back from Hyannis and he said the porgy heard is thinning a bit and smaller fish are more abundant than a month ago.

If you really want to pull the cream, consider using a bigger hook. 5/0 is not too big for platter sized fish.
