Cod on the Wrecks!

Got up early Tuesday and headed out to Point Pleasant Beach to get out on the cod trip with my favorite offshore partyboat. Saw a couple of guys I know, Codbuster was there too. First stop seemed to be nonstop sea pout, one after the other. If you could keep your bait on the bottom for a couple of minutes you had a shot at the cod. We stayed there for a while, wiggling the boat a bit every ;half hour or so. Bergalls were also a nuisance, more often than not, it took them one minute at most to clean off the hooks!! The cod were coming over the rails slow but steady. We made a few more moves and finally ended up on a sticky wreck with good relief and some nice sized cod were caught as well as a few decent sized Pollock. Seemed every time I tried jigging, everyone with baits on both sides of me would land a few cod!! Finally my neighbor decided to try the jig and what do you know! I caught a nice cod!! I did have a VERY hard hit on the jig and my "tin hook" straightened out!! Replacing the hooks with Gamis before I use them again. All in all a nice day out there, it never got close to a hot sunny day. Cool mist and low fog kept us all in long sleeves. Wish I could go again this Friday!! Most everyone went home with at least 3 cod, some with 6 or more!!!

Nice job Chico! If I wasn't committed to a charter Friday. I would of jumped on that trip.
