Light action LH schoolies, a few eyes + NJ trophy eye

Had a nice open weekend with fishing at the top of the agenda. Friday night we hit up Greenwood Lake kayak style from 9-2am. Constant herring pops with lots of grenades going off. Highlight of the night was my buddy's new personal best Walleye. Fish clobbered a minnowplug deep in the weeds, measured at 28 1/2" and 8lbs9oz, a true jersey monster.

Saturday night got back up to Lake Hopatcong in my buddy's boat. On the water around 7 and began playing with livelined herring on light tackle. In the water for no more than 5 minutes when the drag peeling party began. Found a nice school of hungry Wipers with a couple DOUBLE HEADERS. Double digit fish in the boat with the biggest at 22", a blast on 6lb Nanofil. Ran out of bait so the lures came out. Smacked two nice 'eyes, a solid 21" and a 25" that weighed 6lbs even on the digital scale. Both hit F18's. Weather changed and the fish turned off. Was off the water by 3.

That first walleye is an absolute slob big congrats to you guys for killing it this weekend. I'm still trying to get my pike for the month lol I honestly never had so much trouble catching one. I had multiple strikes and blowups but yet to get one on the boat or bank.

For the first time this season I pulled out the topwater box. Threw a spook for less than 15 minutes and had at least 5 big blowups. Fish were completely missing though. Cant wait for that to bust open! These 3-4 hour nights sleep and quick chek sandwiches are killing me, but must.....fish....through!

Man I would love that some day, but for now I am a lowly amateur who is still learning and defending myself from the inevitable Skunk every time out there. This sport teaches you something every time out whether you like it or not lol. Turning that into fish is the hard part.

Throw me a pm, we'll set something up.
