After work bass 3/11/13
With daylight savings time I finally had enough daylight after work to go fishing. I headed to a local pond to see what was biting. The wind was relentless, but it actually seemed to work to my advantage, as there was a bunch of fish concentrated in a wind-swept cove. In about an hour and a half, I caught six bass to 1.5 lbs, as well as three crappie. All fish were caught on a shallow Shad-Rap worked with a slow, steady retrieve. The bass hit very lightly; more than once I thought I had weeds until I felt a head shake.
Felt good to catch something other than small trout this year. The colder temps coming later this week may disrupt the fishing a bit, but I feel like any day now things could bust wide open. |

Nice going. Man we are all looking forward to the full break in the weather and reactivation of fishing. Reports like this have got my steam UP.

The shallower/smaller the pond, the better. They warm quicker(first losing their ice) and the fish can't hide in deeper water. I don't go near reservoirs or large lakes until the water is well into the 50's.
