That is pretty serious surgery, and takes a LONG time to heal... My sister had it, and it took her over a year to feel somewhat better.. She said it was easily the most painful thing she had in her life.. I suppose it depends on how much damage was done... Don't rush it...
The fish will always be there...
If you can't do any "heavy duty" fishing, fish for sunnies, perch pickerel in fresh water, or maybe stream trout,
and fish for smaller salt water fish with a light one hand outfit when you feel up to it... Not a good idea to wrestle 15 pound blues on a head boat for 6 or 7 hours.. not anytime soon anyway... bob

Took me about 4 months to be back up to speed. Take all the physical therapy sessions and work on it at home. Use the rubber bands!!!!!!

Arthroscopic or open? It makes a big difference. I was lifting in 4 weeks (lightly). Anything below the shoulder can be done after 6 weeks. 6 months to try any lifting above the shoulders. I wouldn't go for any liveline stripers but you could go clamming in late April.

The risk is reaching out and grabbing a rail out of habit . It you do that and pull at any point near parallel or above to your shoulder it will be painful and damaging. No casting above waist, jigging can prob be classified as some sort of therapy if done right!!!

mine was open rotator cuff with 2 pins attach to the ligaments, with pt it took over 18 months just to start feeling less pain & more movement.

If its that bad.. tape the arm up /load up on the painkillers and use your feet...:D

All kidding aside, everyones body heals differently / and different rates of recovery and damage.

Have the surgery first, take it a day at a time / and work with a doctor...

Hope it works out and you're in time for June.. get well..
