Snapper fishing in Islamorada update

After a three day cold front it calmed down and the temp hit 82 degrees today.Off we went to the reef, drug the chum bag in a big circle and set the anchor.Had all kinds of tropical fish in the slick instantly. After about 40 mins. the yellowtail snappers came up in the slick 10ft wide and 50 ft long. They stayed back about 30 ft and down about 15.We used 12lb floro and small hooks.Started with nice 14 to 15'' cookie cutters.Lock and load and only kept the nicer fish average 16 to 18'' with a few bigger.Three man limit in know time and what fun.Didn't keep track of how many we released but alot.Boy was that a good dinner and fed all the nieghbors with our fish fry.The water temp right out front on the reef is 74 degrees and the water is as clear as the canyon!Waiting for the Cobia :)
