Dehooking tool

I want to equip myself with a dehooking tool. What would you recommend for party boat/general purpose fishing? I see the J style and I see the full circle ones.

The j style hook removal tools are good but only if you got em in the lip and that's usually when you can remove them by hand anyway. Long plyers or or something similar to the tool Keith posted work well for deep hooks in the gills and throat especially tooth fish like blues.

Re: Dehooking tool

I use dehooking tool made by rapala. I put it on my straps of slicks attached to retracting key chain holder. Knot only can I dehook fish quickly if hook gets gut hooked I can get in there and get hook out with little damage to fish.

I carry several different types of dehooking tools. Stop by and we can show them to you and explain how they work. At the present time we are open friday thru sunday.
