Offshore SeaBass Jigging Question

If 16oz is the average weight to bait fish for SeaBass. And from what I read 7oz jigs work best on the seabass when jigging offshore how are you guys setting up jig rigs for the additional weight? Or are you just sending down a heavier jigs. Any recommendation would be helpful.

Re: Offshore SeaBass Jigging Question

Most common jigs are prob 6-8 oz hammered jigs.
Start with the lighter ones and go heavier as needed.

Agreed, I used a 8oz Gold Hammered Jig on an snotty day and caught 10 Giant Seabass. All you need is drop it to the bottom and bounce it up a few times. Bam!

Re: Offshore SeaBass Jigging Question

No additional weight, just send ANY roughly 8 ounce jig down and proceed to reel up your 5lb sea bass in a couple of seconds.

You guys have any experience with hammered jigs with glow finish. Are they producers when it comes to the sea bass??
