Sinker size
 

Never gone out and fished in over 200 ft of water. Hoping to get out for seabass real soon and wondering what size sinkers to bring. Thanks in advance.

16-20 oz most times, but a few 24oz in the box just in case

16 oz. and up. I was using 20 oz. today.

Friday I was using 10 oz with 50lb power pro and was holding fine but have been out and needed 20 oz before. Its always good to have a little assortment as you never really know the conditions for sure.

Keep the light stuff home. One of the biggest mistakes people make when fishing offshore seabass trip is fish a light sinker. If you are using 6-10 oz sinkers when everyone else is using 16- 20 oz all you are going to be doing is tangling everyone around you and pissing people off. The more time you spend tangled means the less time you will actually have a line in the water fishing. Going heavier on sinker will not effect your catch negatively. This is not bucktailing for fluke or jigging for cod where lightest weight you can get away with can help increase your catch based on action you can impart on jig under certain conditions. With that being said I would order 14, 16, 20 and a few 24 oz sinkers. 16 and 20 oz will be most popular sizes. Just make sure rod you are using can handle the weight. Have also found longer rod to help in keeping out of tangles by keeping your line away from everyone around you. Go to classified section and give sam the sinker man a call as he has sinkers up to 24 oz and will take care of you right.

14oz - 20oz.. Any where in there.. Sometimes get away with less then that..

It may seems obvious but if you don't want to search around or purchase a 20 to 24 oz sinker just but two 10 or 12 oz sinkers together.

Heard some funny stories of people showing up with concrete blocks, engine block parts and large chains as sinkers. Makes for some great stories. :D

Sam the Sinker man can send you an assortment in a $5.35 priority box in flats or banks. He's got the best lead.

What do most people prefer in your opinion for offshore Sea Bass? Flats or Banks ?

Before I started pouring my own lead I used to cut pieces of iron pipe and fill with cement. They used to call them depth charges.
