"They had planned to eat the headless mystery fish, but when they cooked it the flesh turned gelatinous, so they passed." Lessons learned don't attempt to eat something you are not familiar with.

I find stuff like this laughable. Not that I know what it is, but most likely even without the head it is easily identifiable. Just goes to show how the media takes advantage of the general public that wouldnt know a dogfish for a great white.

I know nothing about the fish of the Pacific, and even I knew it was a cutlass fish as soon as I saw it... If it were in the Atlantic Ocean there might be a problem, as they don't get near as big there, but Pacific Cutlass Fish can grow to over 7 feet long, so this one was right about where it should be..

I would bet it was caught, and some idiot hacked its head off. I can't see a shark biting its head off and leaving the rest. From what I have read, Cutlass fish are slow swimmers and get gobbled up by lots of other fish.

Oh yeah, and the guys that tried to eat a dead, unidentified, headless fish they found floating are MORONS.... I wonder if they would try and eat a Smooth Puffer they found bobbing around out there??? bob
