Duke Island 10/23
I paid a visit to Duke Island Park yesterday morning to mix things up a bit for the last day of my 4 day weekend. I had the whole river to myself. :D
Started off near the parking lot and had one bump there and nothing else happening so I ventured off to the falls. Within 10 minutes on a 2" swimbait I hooked into a really hurt looking brown who still put up a good fight. Not sure what would have done that to it; fish, fowl or the hatchery but it seemed too small to be a recent stocking. It inhaled my lure so it wasn't a case of foul hooking it. It was able to swim off on it's own after some help in recuperating. Other than that not much doing. There was a dink smallie that jumped a few times so I made a few casts with a floating Rapala in it's direction and it had 2 goes at it including a jump but I couldn't hook into him. Despite seeing some huge leaves there I had more issues with some furry down feather concoction fouling my lure and line. lol http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o...t/IMG_3600.jpg |

Nice beat up brown, lol. Is there picks or musky swimming in that area?
