D&R Canal Again 9/20 PB Pickerel
 

Hit the canal after work thursday night with Gatto for about 2 hours and we hammered em. Started out with slime dart doubles, mine went about 19in and his was about 22. Then Gatto got a nice fat largemouth that was maybe 2.5lb on a Mepps Musky Killer. Shortly after this he got another chunky 2lb bass on a senko. Action was slow for a while after that until I threw my lure next to some structure and hooked up with my new pb pickerel. He was a good 26-27incher and pretty thick. The canal has been good to me this wk, earlier in the week I had a follow from a tiger musky that was about 30in. He didn't bite, but the mere fact that I saw one there has me excited lol. i hope dredging will remove some of the grass infestation in the summertime. this place gets absolutley choked with weeds every year. there's this spot by me that used to produce good catfish but now its an extremley narrow fast flowing channel, about 10 ft wide with massive grass beds in between, almost taking over the entire width of the canal.

Wow nice day you had there....I haven't fished the canal in years....never had any luck in there. Maybe I just suck at this fishing stuff. But at least I've got thousands of dollars of equipment to play with!:D

looks like fun. are there places to launch a trailered boat into the canal in central jersey? or is it all just car top/carry in?
