Power Pro Slick
Spooled up a new battle and a shimano with Power Pro Slick and this is by far the worst line i have ever used. Works well for pitching light bucktails for fluke. Decided to try throwing a plug and had 4 wind knots on 4 casts. Switched over to the shimano with a 1 oz jig head and 6 inch shad and same results 4 for 4. I have been a power pro fan for years but this line is Horrible for plugging!!!!!!!

Yes it is!!! The Windtamer is perfect for eliminating wind knots. We have been slowly converting people over to it. Fishermen are set int heir ways, but once they try it, they don't leave it. ;) |
Re: Power Pro Slick
Haven't had any issues with the slick yet, but I don't cast too far with it. Maybe it sucks for surfcasting. I only boat fish so I wouldn't know. I tried the Fins a couple of years ago. I had the limited stretch braid which I liked, and the regular braid which I didn't like. Never tried the wind tamer.

Re: Power Pro Slick
I hear you Jig i boat fish only to but if you dare try to cast to snag a bunker or try to throw a popper on fish on top it's a nightmare!!!!

Re: Power Pro Slick
Are you using a spinning reel? I ask because yesterday I was casting a jig upcurrent for a while, granted it wasn't too far maybe 20 or 30 yards but I didn't have any issues. I had it on a conventional though. I guess I'll stay away from putting it on a spinner.

Re: Power Pro Slick
Years ago, when I was first starting to convert over to braids, I would use a heavier size on all of my spinners. I always felt it helped.
That may help you out. Instead of using 20#, maybe bump it up to 30#, even 40#?? Your still going to be way under the mono diameter. Snagging rod with braid........ that can get real ugly, no matter how good you are !! I still keep mono on ours. |
Re: Power Pro Slick
Thanks for the responses. Man years ago i was into a lot of surf fishing and on the bridges every night. We started using kite string 20 years ago on the bridges and thought it was the best stuff on earth because the pink ande was not good on concrete. Kite string loaded up on a Morrum 7700 was the cream of the crop. Had the vs150 for years and still do loaded with power pro 30 and never had any issues which is why i still use it today. Still use green 30 and 40 on all the avets and all other conventionals but this slick stuff to me is garbage. Thanks for the other experiences!!!!!
