Squan Res late report

Hit the Res with my lil guy and a co worker this past Monday for some 'fun' fishing. Had a blast catching catching sunnies and yellow perch in the shallow trees early on. Then made a move out to deeper water(10-25ft) over submerged log jams and deep weed beds and plugged up some nice Big mouths while the lil guy loaded up on some good sized white & yellow perch and Blue Gills. The water was crystal clear and the white perch were biting so good I tossed a few of the larger fish on ice for my first freshwater fish meal in over 10 years, they were delicious!:)

Good job on the catch and a better job setting an example for the little guy about the importance of life jackets for everyone.

That's an awesome pic of your son.... Brings back great memories...My guys are 20 and 18 now and they still like to fish with their old man. You have a lot of good times ahead if you keep it up. Enjoy it!

Thanks for the report. Just started fishing that place this year. Went 3 times and each time caught fish. Nothing great but at least I didnt get skunked. LOTS of perch in there. I always catch them on big sexy shad crankbaits. Its funny cause there is no way they could get that lure in their mouths but they take the whole back treble hook anyway. When you say you were plugging the bass are you refering to the type of lure you were using?

Yes we were using lipless cranks and Raps over structure for some nice hits.. The lagest one (caught by my buddy) was fooled by the lipless crank. But Rapalas landed the most LMB... everything that swims will hit a Rapala.
