Check out this LMB!

LOL! Caught this ambitious little guy at Manasquan resorvoir. My first lmb at that place. Been there 3 times. First time 2 pickerel, 2nd time, 2 yellow perch. Was determined to keep going there until I caught a bass. 3rd time was the charm I got 2 LMB (two seems to be my magic number at this place) Second one was about twice the size of this one. I'm not a great fisherman but every other place I go to I catch decent bass( even caught a nice accidental LMB while pike fishing). A guy I know who is a great fisherman says this place can be tough. I saw a report on here a couple weeks ago from a guy who got a couple good ones. How about the rest of you? Anyone else fish here? |

Re: Check out this LMB!
Manasquan resorvoir is my home base. I generally fish the shallow wood with spinners and rebels. Been catching mostly medium and small stuff this season. Lots of Perch this year. I cant buy a pickerel this year for some reason.
How do you guys fish the deep water here? |

Re: Check out this LMB!
Went there in my brothers boat a few years ago and with fish jumping all over the place we caught nothing. Then we fished off the shore after getting tired of sitting in a boat all day and caught some nice bass.

Re: Check out this LMB!
Just fished there yesterday with some friends that are kinda new to the sport. Jig heads tipped with Kellies and Kellies on a Carolina rig worked great at pulling LMB, Big white Perch, and some moster Blue gills from the deep.. We were fishing from like 10:30am til about 430pm we were cooking in the sun out there but they were having so much fun they didn't want to leave.
A decent pair of polarized glasses are priceless here.. with the clear water you can see tons of contour changes and deeper structure that always seem to hold fish. |
