Raritan river striped bass -INSANE- 5/5:
2 Attachment(s)
I started doing yard work and a little voice inside my head said "what are you, stupid?" I threw down my tools and jumped into my waders and took the 5 min. drive over to the Raritan river in Bound Brook. I parked just the other side of the Queens bridge in South Bound Brook. I waded over to the big deep run just below the bridge and hooked up on my first cast ! Then I hooked up on my next cast, then again, then again, then again, then again. I lost count standing in one spot. I started with dark colors and decided to try light colors, again hooking up on just about every cast. They are real scrappers and fight like crazy, they love the fast water which also makes it a blast. I got tired of catching so many fish I left after 45 mins. Water had a heavy stain but it didn't seem to bother the fish one bit.
I snapped a few photos, all about the same size. http://www.raritan.rutgers.edu/ |

Hoping to hook into one of those beauties myself! Not a bad diversion from the yardwork. :D

Sounds like a good day, I haven't been out much myself, but talking to guys in New Brunswick., they're catching some but small less the 12". Maybe most have already gotten up your way. Will try as soon as I can get a little time off.
