Raritan River 3/18
3 Attachment(s)
Hit the river from 10:30-1230. Had a little time to kill so I wanted to see if the shad were in yet, didnt see any around. Started throwing the original Rapala, black and silver, hooked 6 fish all bass 1 LM the rest Smallies. If I had a net I would have joined Bronzebacks 5lb Smallie club. This fish was approximately 24 inches. I had him within arms reach and he jumped and swam back to the depths. Oh well, get em next time!!! I hate losing TROPHY fish!!! Heres a couple pics. TIGHT LINES!!!:D

Nice,I stopped over at the river with my son after the sommerset show and came up with the skunk but did notice tons of suckers jumping the falls.

Re: Raritan River 3/18
Guess I was fishing the wrong stretch of river. I was chucking a Rapala on the Raritan on Saturday and got the skunk. :( Beautiful fish!

Re: Raritan River 3/18
On South Branch Raritan, 3/17 & 18, also on original Rapala (rainbow trout pattern):
Sat. caught & deceased an 18” brookie @ the Rt. 31 bridge. Sun. @ Camp Buck, caught another fat (full of eggs) 18” brookie. Caught & released a 22” northern pike @ the base of the Clinton Dam. Saw schools of suckers @ the Clinton STP. Boy the river’s low!!! Need rain,…we start trout stocking today. |
