Spring Lake 3/13/12
I headed over to Spring Lake after work today, to be greeted by at least a dozen anglers along the shore. You'd think opening day was today, and not next month. Seeing that the others were chucking spinners for trout, I decided to start with a senko. About 45 minutes with that yielded no hits, so I switched over to a CD3 in rainbow trout color. I had almost worked my way back to the car when I twitched it past a tangle of branches near shore, felt a bump, and set the hook on a nice 2 lb. bass. Fished a few more minutes, but no other hits.
I saw lots of surface activity, not sure what they were. They could have been trout or sunnies. I saw some big carp in the shallows, even a few that jumped clear of the water. Only other fish I saw caught was a crappie on a spinner. Even saw an old guy break out the fly rod, to no avail. |

Spring Lake 3/13/12
I'm at Spring Lake all the time and most of the surface activity gets you excited but 99% of the time it's just big carp rolling around.... everyone is trying for some of the big trout still in there from the Fall & Winter stocking, before they close it next week for the Spring stocking
