Crappie on the move

1 Attachment(s)
the yellow perch have stopped biting at the aqueduct, now the crappies are out. last half hour of fishing, the rain picked up and i was getting fish on every cast using a black trout magnet. ended up with 18 crappies and my first sunny of the year (shown below). guy next to me caught some huge slabs. up to 122 fish total for 2012.

With the way you're going, you'll lose count really soon. ;)

Love to hear about the early season crappie bite. When I was a kid, as soon as the ice was off the local pond I would head down with some micro jigs under a float and have at them. Once I got the first one in my hands, I knew spring was truly on its way.

I don't eat many freshwater fish but those Crappie are tasty. Nice report.

Re: Crappie on the move

I agree Leif...get a mess of crappies and some perch, and fry them up, and you got a hell of a dinner there!
