Carnegie Lake

Went ultralight jigging on the Carnegie Lake Aqueduct yesterday afternoon in 45 degree water for 2 and a half hours. I used 1/32 oz black leadhead jigs with yellow eyes and 1" black twister tail and my 9 cent lure, a 1/32 oz unpainted leadhead jig with 1" purple twister tails on 2 lb test PLine fluorocarbon, US Reel Supercaster 225 and Cabela's XML 6' ultralight spinning rod. I only fished one spot and had steady action. I caught 35 white perch, 9 black crappies, 4 yellow perch and 2 blugills. My biggest fish was an 8.5" blugill. Other fishermen caught bigger fish on minnows. I am averaging 50 fish per trip this year.

Not bad for February. I thought the white perch and crappie would be bigger than the bluegills.

Sounds like you had a great day, NJ219! I got skunked there the other day.
