Anyone ever fish Ramapo Lake?
Was messing around on Bing Maps (birdseye view is awesome) and came across this body of water off Skyline Dr. in Ringwood. Did a little research, couldnt find too much, but it seems like a scenic place to fish. Input?

Re: Anyone ever fish Ramapo Lake?
Decent fishing, but not lights out. It's about a 3/4-mile hike from the Skyline Dr. parking area. The road you see on Google maps can only be accessed by park rangers and the two residents that have houses on the lake. More pickerel than bass with some crappie, perch and bullhead. We used to go up there after school with a bottle of scotch and a couple of......errr....cigars. Lots of good memories. Helps to know the secret little spots, but the place gets crowded with hikers, bikers and dog-walkers on the weekends.

Re: Anyone ever fish Ramapo Lake?
ramapo lake is about 2 miles from my house. It is very nice. As far as fishing goes I hear it is not bad. I have a friend that brings his canoe and shiners and does very well.

i've brought a rod up there before on a hike, but only found sunnies when fishing from shore. i keep meaning to bring a kayak, but then i just go fish the places that are easier to access instead.

live shiners or herring ...some decent bass and pickerel...20 minute hike uphill...worth a try if you have never been there
