7.14 Evening (Fish ID too?)
Hit a local reservoir last night at 6:30, stayed til 8:45. Got a chance to explore one part of the lake that I haven't been to yet since I just started fishing there. Caught a real thin white crappie. First time catching that species. Looked very fragile... especially since it hit a lipless 'Blaze' crank from Sports Authority. I imagine that's like me going after a full rack of ribs... with no hands.
Anyway, next fish was what's in the picture below. I have never caught a smallmouth bass before, but I think that's what this is. A fish ID would help so I would know for sure. Also got a few sunfish because the spoon I used was a bit small, but I had a good time either way. I'm using a carbon fiber and a Stradic 2500 and even the tiny fish are fun to reel in.... or maybe I'm just not catching enough fish! Either way, can you help with a fish ID on the pic below? Thanks!! http://a8.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot...1_902601_n.jpg |

Those things are voracious at RV when you are NOT trying to catch them. caught one on a 6' senko with a 3/O wide gap worm hook once....not sure how it got it in its mouth but it sure was a bitch to get out. |
Re: 7.14 Evening (Fish ID too?)
caught a handful of them on the D in june...they seemed to like the nightcrawlers...throw in and get a hit...was with the mrs, hooked her up and she threw and before i could get my bait on i had to help her bring in...close to shore too

Re: 7.14 Evening (Fish ID too?)
I feel dumb asking this as I've caught SMB before, but nothing that small. How do you guys know it's a rock bass vs. a junior smallie?
