Run and gun trout 5/10/11:
Started out at the shale flats in Duke Island Park. Fished the top and the bottom, nothing. The guy with the fly rod had one on as I was leaving.
Went to Roberts St. falls, it was drop and reel with all kinds of nice smallmouth and largemouth, that ended as quick as it started. Went through Nevius St. so fast it was like I wasn't even there. Time to re-group. Headed to ground zero for trout fishing, Hackettstown ! Follwed the Musky down stream, stopping at some spots, passing on others. Most spots had at least one or two fishermen, didn't feel like doing any long wading so it was run and gun, stop, fish maybe a half hour, keep moving. Just about every stop I managed between 3 to 6 fish. Ended up at the Graphite Mill with my best for the day, 14" brown. Today I got largemouth, smallmouth, brook, rainbow, and brown trout. I need to take the boat out, it's Merrill Creek time. |

Re: Run and gun trout 5/10/11:
I like to run and gun fish with plugs up that way. After an 8 hr day on thew SbBranch and Musky, I always wind up with a limit of nice ones. Just one decent one every other spot does the trick but I go thru a tank of gas which is tough right now.
