Raritan River 5/8/11
 

My dad and I fished the Raritan this morning before doing the Mothers Day thing. We started at Nevius Street falls, I got four brookies and my dad got one small rainbow. I also ran into a school of nice sized white perch and caught about six of those. They pull drag on trout gear!

We then moved over to Duke Island and fished the rapids downstream from the falls. The fish were stacked up in one pool, I got five rainbows, Dad got four. Nothing in the rest of the stretch.

All trout caught on spinners, except one on a rapala. All fish released. All the fish hit hard and fought well.

The water looks GREAT !! I love fishing the big water, guess I'll be there in the AM.

Wait till the dams come down !! That whole stretch in Duke Island Park is gonna be ACES !! We'll see the shad up there also.
Big water, holdovers, what more do you want !!
Then we can push for artificials only and a 15" one fish bag limit, the new KLG !!
