Raritan river 5/7/2011
 

Back to the scene of the crime !! Met up with Maddhatterr aorund 6 am or so, fished big stuff at the pipe and the falls, nothing. Did see 1 nice shad caught. Water is getting lower and cleaner by the minute. Working on a learning curve for the stripers. An hour or so was just standing around BS'ing about tackle, tactics etc, Maddhatterr has a wealth of knowledge.
Saw alot of turtles in the canal and a big water snake. Found a huge crayfish near the rocks, got him untangled out of some old line and set him free. Nice day to be outside.

Fishin could have been alittle better but it was a beautiful morning. Definitly learned alot about a river that I really never gave credit to. As always a pleasure fishin with you Andy and thanks again for the specials. Was at the same spot last night and caught the biggest bronze back I've ever seen on a hatterr plug, the plug was about 5 inches long and over an inch where it breaks....beautiful smallie with that gorgeous purple belly....smashed it right in front of me...try to get a picture but fouled that up with my phone and the fish decided to release itself...that river is defintely under rated...;)
