Fair winds Big John "the Vet" Gleason.
Another awesome Man, Friend and customer for 25 years has passed. Big John as everyone on the boat new him passed yesterday after a long hard fight. John served in Viet Nam and became a union Iron Worker working on many of the buildings in NY city after his service. He was a huge personality, loved practical jokes and always had a hilarious meme to show me on his phone. An avid fisherman, he traveled many places in this country to do what he did best, the love of the outdoors kept him going. I meet him one morning when we were fishing for striped bass, the boat had sailed, he came up to the wheelhouse and said he forgot his wallet, apologizing like crazy! I told him don't worry about it; it's on me. He wouldn't have it, came back the next week, the next 25 years is history. I could write a book about so many great memories. I will never forget this beautiful man and how much he meant to me and all who knew him. Fair Winds Brother, until we fish again. |
