Fishing 🎣 near poachers
4 Attachment(s)
Went fishing 🎣 in 77.3 degrees Dam Site 21 this evening on a hot 🥵, sunny day with a light south wind. Only one car 🚗 was in the parking lot when I arrived, but one of the guys that had a photo shoot with my carp two days ago was in my spot. I threw out canned, whole kernel corn 🌽 for chum into my back up spot for the first time this year in the cove, then caught and released 5 brown bullheads, 3 black crappies to 10” and a golden shiner. Saw two boats 🛶 on the lake. While I was leaving, two poachers arrived and started fishing 🎣 with illegal live goldfish bait. A car 🚙 was in the parking lot with the engine running. Probably lookouts for the poachers who will never get apprehended. Swallows, Canada geese and great blue heron flew across the lake.

Re: Fishing 🎣 near poachers
What do they expect to catch using goldfish as bait ?

I was going to ask the same question
I’m sure something would eat it, just never heard of anyone fishing with them. |
Re: Fishing 🎣 near poachers
I dunno, not sure I would call guys using Goldfish for bait "poachers".. I mean there are already Carp in the lake. I know , I get it "its the law"... Sometimes laws are dumb however.. In Cayuga Lake which has been home to 10's of millions of Gobies for around 20 years, you can't put one on the hook for bait. You can kill them, but when you catch 100 of them on your hook in the mouth during a days fishing, if you toss it back to the same spot you caught it hoping to catch a bigger fish with it, you are breaking state law... So yeah, sometimes the word poacher might be a bit harsh..

I think he was referring to the bucket brigade than actual poachers.
