Raritan river 4/2/25:

Casted large lures into a large river looking for some large fish, but never caught anything. Water 52* @ 1200 CFS I thought would be ideal conditions. Been a slow start thus far, definitely not a river for the thin skinned or egos that get easily bruised. If the river stays below 1000 CFS on Saturday April 5th I can head to Duke Island Park for opening day of trout season. I did find a TICK on my waders today ! Usually they don't stick to my waders but this little bugger was determined ! I took my forceps and crushed him so he won't be a bother anymore. PLEASE be careful this spring and summer, stay vigilant, check and check some more.
