Re: Fish Code Changes Meeting - January 16
I heard a lot of this when I went to the F&G Council meeting also. One of the changes that is long overdue is reducing the creel limit in the fall and winter from 4 to 2 fish. I think big changes coming to MC and RV about Lake Trout also. Letting people fish lakes and ponds the moment they are stocked in March to beat out the cormorants I understand, also it let's those those anglers get in on that early Crappie bite instead of waiting to April. I see confusion here as people will see anglers on the lakes and ponds and deem it safe to go fish the rivers and streams that remain closed till opening day.
I'm sure lots more will discussed, a meeting not to miss !! |

Im just happy that we will be able to fish the lakes during prime panfish and esox time

A simpler solution would be not trout stocking lake Hopatcong and lake Musconetcong, maybe follow along the lines of Spruce Run Res.

I actually heard the entire presentation earlier at the Council meeting.
Looks like trout limit goes to 2 fish after June 1st. right through the winter. Natirar to be stocked to Ravine Lake. Added a bunch of duck ponds to the stocking schedule as well as no closed seasons for the ponds and I guess (lakes) also ? All this is for 2026. |
