After 5 bad fishing 🎣 trips in 5 different spots with 90 to 96 degrees water the past 5 evenings, I went fishing in 90 degree Gropp’s Lake this evening on a hot, humid, sunny day with a strong south wind. Threw out corn 🌽 for chum, then hooked a big fish 🐟 on my first cast with canned whole kernel corn 🌽 bait. After a long fight, the fish 🐠 threw the hook. Caught and released a male bluegill, musk turtle 🐢 and 11.25 lbs snapping turtle 🐢. Another fisherman arrived late in the day. I removed a lot of moss from my spot. Maybe I’ll return tomorrow.

Interesting article about the length of the common snapping turtle which I assume yours are, versus an alligator snapper, and the relationship between length of the carapace (shell) and age. 14" to 18.5" is estimated to be between 15 to 40 years old if you scroll down in the attached article. Pretty amazing some of the turtles you're catching may have been born before you.
