Fluke spinning rod to pair with Daiwa BG MQ

Looking for a 7’ spinning rod to pair with a Daiwa BG MQ Spinning Reel - BGMQ4000D-XH. Reel will have 15# or 20# braid and be used for fluke bucktailing on party and charter boats. Probably also some fall striper fishing on party boats casting Shads.

Looking at St Croix or a Fenwick under $250. Will buy online as just had major arm surgery and can’t drive for a bit and need to buy something while I heal up.

Thanks!

Jigging World Night Ranger would be a good choice at your price point. Either the 701s MH or if you want something a bit lighter and probably a little better for bucktailing the 721S MH. These rods are super lightweight below 5 ounces and could also be used for blackfish jigging.

Thanks Gerry. I will take a look. Was also looking at the new St Croix Avids. Ideally I would want to take my reel to see how it balances on the rod but I’m going stir crazy recovering from biceps tendon surgery and need to buy something lol

Hope all is well.

John

Hope you have a speedy recovery John. I've heard good things about the Avids but I've not fished one nor has anyone close to me so I can't comment.
