Ned rigs for back water fluke
Been hearing these are good for River and backwater fluke early in the season.
Can only find the small ones " 1/8 oz or less" usually for fresh water. Does anyone make / sell these in 1/2 oz or larger say to 1 or 2 oz? |
Re: Ned rigs for back water fluke
I’ve been using the 1/4 ounce Gamkatsu roundhead jigheads for backwater and in the surf for fluke) and have been very successful. Key is to fish a light main line (I’m using #10 braid) with either a #12-15 leader. Been using this technique from a boat, shoreline & wading.
FYI, in the April issue of On The Water there is a good article about fishing the Ned rig for backwater fluke. |

If you take a 1 or 2 oz ball jig, stick it in a vice hook side down, tighten vice on hook with the ball on top of vice, wack the top with a hammer I think you'll end up with one. Lead squashes pretty easily.
