Corn pickerel

4 Attachment(s)
Caught and released 10 bluegills, a musk turtle 🐢, 2 channel catfish to 8 lbs and a 20” pickerel with canned whole kernel corn on a #4 long shank gold hook and 4 lb test line and my homemade corn meal bait on a #8 red treble hook and 12 lb test line in 85 degree Gropp’s Lake this evening. The pickerel swallowed my gold hook as I was reeling in to rebait with corn. My nearly 60 year old Garcia Fish Finder line is amazing. I paid $1.89 for a 1/4 lb 3,000 yd spool at Two Guys in Bordentown. The big catfish ate my homemade corn meal bait, then fought hard for a long time before I pulled it out of a snag then beached it.

Two guys from Harrison. Dam , making some of us feel old. We used to shop at the one on Rt 18 in East Brunswick. And to add another log on the fire, i still have some paks of hardware from Channel Home center.

yikes.. Two Guys... I worked at the one on River road on Kearney [Harrison?], in the automotive dept as a mechanic as a very young man.. I was a kid actually... horrifying how BAD a "mechanic" i was at that time, and was paid accordingly.. maybe $2 an hour?,,, possibly less. , Passaic River ran right past the back of the store, and in those days, not a thing could live there except for Killies, and maybe an eel or two... I recall the first time I saw a small carp in the river i was shocked, could not believe it could survive.. I do recall it kept coming to the surface, gulping air and water together... Things have changed... anyway, yep, Two Guys... that name brings me back a long time... I was there though.... bob
